Bark & Grain

Hand-painted bark jewellery collection by Roxy Megyesi — one-of-a-kind bark pendants with gold and botanical motifs, displayed on natural stones, Bark & Grain Studio Bristol

Ancient Woodland, Painted into Permanence — The Bark & Grain Collection is Here

It started with a walk.

Beneath a 200-year-old Pine Tree, I began picking up what had fallen. Fragments of bark — each one different, each one already shaped by centuries of slow growth. I picked them up the way you pick up something you aren't sure why you need. And didn't put them down again.

Back in the studio, I turned them over. There was a surface already there. A texture, a grain, a story the tree had spent two hundred years writing. All it needed was someone to notice.

That is what the Bark & Grain jewellery collection is — the art of noticing.

Each piece begins where most people walk past.

No two fragments are the same. No shape was cut or altered. The bark arrives as it is, and the painting follows what is already there. A sweep of cobalt blue where the grain opens. White botanical lines tracing the edge of something dark. Gold where the light catches an unexpected form.

These are not pendants in the conventional sense. They are miniature original artworks — each one issued with a Certificate of Authenticity, each one carrying one name. Azura. Moonveil. Radiatus. Ren. Harmat. Plume.

Names given because each piece deserves one.

Why bark?

Because it is honest. Because it has already lived a long life before it reaches my hands. Because the form arrives found, not designed — and there is something deeply humbling about working with a material that knows more than you do.

Bark is also endlessly surprising. The pieces I struggled with most became the most unusual. A fragment that cracked became two works. A shape I almost discarded turned into the piece I am most proud of.

The woodland teaches patience. So does the work.

Who is this collection for?

For people who live slowly and choose deliberately. For people who want to wear something that cannot be replicated — not by a machine, not by another artist, not even by me. For people who understand that the most extraordinary things are found, not manufactured.

Each piece in the Bark & Grain collection arrives in a hand-painted jewellery box, with a hand-drawn ACEO illustration, a note on the bark's origin, and a Certificate of Authenticity — hand-signed.

This is not fast fashion. It is the opposite of fast fashion.
